Amazon workers across the country are at war with Amazon. They are exhausted by their day-to-day battles against low wages, long hours, and limited benefits. Amazon has responded to the fact that these workers are joining with the powerful Teamsters by violating labor laws in a host of ways. But recently, the NLRB ruled that Amazon cannot continue its practice of designating some workers as “contractors” to shirk responsibilities that would compel Amazon to afford benefits across the board to these workers. Amazon is in fact a joint employer of these “contractors” and must treat them as such. Now, the momentum is on the workers’ side.
