NYC Central Labor Council President Vincent Alvarez is raising his voice to name and cheer on the workers who are currently fighting the good fight. What they want, he says, is “a fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work.” Striking actors and writers are being stripped of their residuals, while the use of AI is allowing multi-billion dollar entertainment conglomerates to steal their words and likenesses. Alvarez adds that healthcare, media, retail, legal, cultural, manufacturing and other workers are fed up as well. Right now, he says, there is “an unprecedented wave of solidarity.”
