As the American Federation of Musicians (AFM) continues its round of bargaining with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Studios (AMPTP), powerful unions, largely made up of fellow creatives, have rallied around their compatriots in their fight for a fair contract. IATSE, SAG-AFTRA, Writers Guild of America West, Writers Guild of America East, and the Teamsters have all issued statements of support. In line with some of the demands of the AFM, IATSE International President Matthew D. Loeb brought up the necessity of AI protection, as well as saying AFM members should have, “an appropriate share of the spoils of streaming reaped by the studios, networks, and streamers.” Outspoken President of SAG-AFTRA, Fran Drescher, said they should “expect nothing short of the compensation and working conditions needed to thrive in this time of unchecked corporate greed.”
