Essential workers who staff two sustainable food access nonprofits will finally have union representation. GrowNYC and FRESHFARM, in New York City and Washington, D.C. respectively, have, after fighting management, achieved unionization. They are now set to bargain collectively. Top issues are the need for higher wages and job security. GrowNYC is affiliated with the RWDSU, and FRESHFARM unionized with the United Food & Commercial Workers.
