TWU Local 2001 and TWU Local 2055 have reached a tentative contract with Metro-North Railroad. The agreement covers about 600 train mechanics, inspectors, cleaners and cabinet makers. It is a retroactive agreement that includes a 9.5% wage increase, running from 9/11/19 to 10/30/23. TWU International President John Samuelsen said the deal was “economically favorable to our members and achieves our goals.” A major point of dispute had been the MTA’s demand that they should be allowed to renegotiate parts of the contract at any time, an ask which Samuelsen called “hysterically laughable.” That demand was not included in the final deal.
