NEW YORK, NY – UFA President Gerard Fitzgerald made the following comments regarding planned changes in President Trump’s 2019 budget to reorganize the World Trade Center Health Program. The proposal would jeopardize the health and safety of thousands of 9/11 first responders.
“These changes would be devastating to our firefighters. So many of our brave brothers and sisters fought through the 9/11 disaster and are still fighting through their health illnesses today as a result of the injuries endured during the World Trade Center attack. They can’t afford to be put at further risk by not having access to the doctors and treatments they have been receiving.
We stand with Reps. Peter King (R-Seaford), Carolyn Maloney (D-Manhattan) and Jerrold Nadler (D-Manhattan) in urging the Trump Administration to “withdraw this ill-advised proposal
