New York, NY – In 1955, Trouble in Mind author Alice Childress refused to make changes to her play about racism in the theater. Sixty-six years later, the Roundabout Theatre Company has brought this very timely and important show back to Broadway in a moving new production.
Trouble in Mind follows a group of actors who must decide if they will stay with a show they recognize to be inherently racist. Can the actors overcome their egos, the need for work, and do the right thing? Tony-Award-winner LaChanze stars along with Michael Zegen and Chuck Cooper. Trouble in Mind manages to be quite funny as it tackles issues of racism, identity and ego. A must see show.
Trouble in Mind is now playing at the American Airlines Theatre, located at 227 West 42nd St.
