Ford Executive Chairman Bill Ford, the great-grandson of Ford founder Henry Ford, delivered an address on Mon. Oct 16 in Michigan to reporters, but aimed at UAW members and leadership. He cast the current strike, and threat of its continuing expansion, as highly detrimental to the future of the company and the entire American auto industry. He asked union members and leaders to work with the company, not against it, and referred to the negotiations so far as “acrimonious.” In reply, Shawn Fain UAW President, countered by telling him to “stop playing games,” and said foreign automakers weren’t the real issue, instead, it was “autoworkers everywhere against corporate greed.”
