In a blow for the Harris campaign, Teamsters President Sean M. O’Brien has declined to endorse either presidential candidate. Despite having Biden declare that he would be the most pro-union president in history, and prove it with such actions as saving underfunded pensions for workers and retirees, and Harris’ promise that she would sign the PRO Act, which would strengthen union protections and is supported by not only by the Teamsters but other unions as well, O’Brien, who attended the RNC, has not put his support behind the new Democratic candidate. One of the reasons may be that issues such as gun control, abortion, and border security override Trump’s historical hostility to unions for many workers.
