Nearly 350,000 Teamsters retirees just heard the good news that the Central States Pension Fund will be granted $36 billion by the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. The grant was made possible by the American Rescue Plan. Rank-and-file Teamsters had held rallies, made hundreds of visits to elected officials, and made thousands of phone calls in support of the legislation that was signed into law by President Biden in March of 2021. “This is an issue of fairness – of this country keeping its word to hardworking, honest people,” said Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien.
