The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a growing threat to workers’ livelihoods worldwide. But a particular type of AI, used for vehicles, endangers not only jobs, but ordinary people on the roads. A bill introduced in Kentucky, House Bill 135, would have made legal the operation of totally autonomous semi-trucks that tow thousands of pounds, with very little oversight. Teamsters Local 89 met with legislators, saying they are pro-worker and pro-safety, not anti-technology, and won the day.
