Teamster Costco workers in Local 150, Local 174, and Local 853, are organizing practice picket lines as the Jan. 31 expiration of their contract with the behemoth chain store draws near. The picket lines that are in practice are in Hayward, Calif., and Sumner, Wash. The Teamsters are pointing to the company’s record-breaking profits, and threaten a strike if they don’t receive a fair deal. The Teamsters represent over 18,000 Costco workers nationwide. Robert Campus, a Local 174 member and fleet driver in Sumner, Wash.said, “It’s time for Costco to stop prioritizing Wall Street and corporate executives over the workers who built this company. We’re fully prepared to strike if offered anything less than an industry-leading, record-breaking contract.”
