New York, N.Y.—Staff members at StoryCorps have voted by a 5-1 margin to be represented by Communications Workers of America Local 1180, the National Labor Relations Board announced Sept. 13. Workers at the Brooklyn-based nonprofit, who collect and share the stories of everyday Americans, “experienced sudden layoffs, worked for low wages, and weren’t able to negotiate over working conditions,” said production assistant Mia Warren. Now that we’ve made our voices heard, we can’t wait to get to the bargaining table,” said national facilitator Roselyn Almonte. Local 1180 also represents workers at the Open Society Foundation, the Nation Institute, and Human Rights Watch.  Read more
