The union Starbucks Workers United says that 98% of union baristas have voted to authorize a strike. In a press release, the union said that, in an effort to secure a contract with the coffee company, it, and the coffee giant, have spent hundreds of hours in the past year at the bargaining table. Now, in the final session of the year, they seek a “foundational framework”. However, there are hundreds of unfair labor practice cases that still remain unsettled. Over 500 company-owned Starbucks cafes have voted to unionize in the past three years.
