Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver has introduced legislation barring indviduals and corporations who invest in Iran’s energy sector from doing business with New York State and its municipalities. Silver, who says the prohibition is necessary because of Iran’s role in state sponsored terrorism, pursuit of nuclear weapons and threat to world peace. The legislation was modeled after similar legislation in California and conceived with help from the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York.
