SAG-AFTRA has come to the aid of members’ grievances regarding the practice of self-taping auditions for low-budget productions. The union had distributed a survey to members regarding the practice, and conducted extended research. 9,300 members responded to the survey. Issues included having to provide their own recording equipment, an excessive number of script pages, and unpaid long and burdensome auditions.
