SAG-AFTRA, which represents about 160,000 entertainment and media professionals, has just scored a win, not just for the union, but for the 80 games that have just signed the union’s tiered-budget or interim agreements. This change signals that the union’s provisions, which include protections regarding the use of A.I., a source of conflict for many in related fields, are fair and achievable. Since July, the union has been on strike against the major game developers. 18 months of negotiations had ended without a deal, with employers side-stepping agreements on the use of A.I. Now, with the new provisions, workers will be able to find employment during the work stoppage.
