Camelot is a revision of the original story by Alan Jay Lerner (lyrics) and Frederick Lowe (music) with a new book by Aaron Sorkin. The show stars Andrew Burnap as King Arthur, Phillip Soo as Guenevere and Jordan Donica as Sir Lancelot.
I saw the original with Julie Andrews, Richard Burton and Robert Goulet which was sensational and fast
moving.
This revival is too talkative, slow moving and could have easily cut a half hour.
The music by Lerner and Lowe is wonderful and certainly worth a ticket.
As a Lincoln Center Production ticket can be purchased without mortgaging your home.
The story does have meaning in today’s world, were King Arthur gathers the Knights of the Round table.
