Washington DC – With both houses in Congress controlled by the Republican party, the GOP is attacking the Social Security system. The Republican agenda in Washington includes reducing benefits for the millions of people who rely on Social Security.
Republicans are now creating a Social Security initiative to reduce funding areas. Millions of disabled workers could see their benefits cut by nearly 20 percent. Republicans are also considering cuts to retired seniors.
Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren put it best: “We can’t turn our backs on the promises we’ve made to our families, friends, and neighbors who need our help the most. House Republicans should stop playing political games to put America’s most vulnerable at risk.”
