Three acts of hate-filled violence erupted in the United States in the past week.
On Wednesday October 24th, a man with a history of violence murdered two African-Americans at a Kentucky supermarket following a failed attempt to forcibly enter a black church. On Friday October 26th, a Florida man who had railed on social media against Democrats and minorities was arrested for sending mail bombs to CNN and 12 prominent critics of President Trump. On Saturday October 27th, a man shouting anti-Semitic slurs mowed down 11 people at a Pittsburgh synagogue.
We call on the president to support sensible gun control measures and repudiate the rhetoric of hate that has created the toxic political atmosphere that gave rise to these abhorrent acts of violence this past week. We extend our deepest sympathy to the families who suffered catastrophic loss in Louisville and Pittsburgh.
