Physicians who are represented by SEIU’s Committee of Interns and Residents won a huge victory just days ago. These resident physicians had been seeking to be paid salaries comparable to their private-sector counterparts, and no longer be the lowest-paid physicians in the city. The residents have been bargaining with the public hospital system for nine months. If ratified, the workers would receive their first raises since March 2020. The raises would total 22.6% over five-and-a-half years, as well as include ratification bonuses and equity adjustments.
