New York State Nurses Association nurses are ready to go on strike at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, citing as a primary reason staffing cuts that they say compromise patient care. Their previous contract expired April 30, 2023, but they had been trying to reach a compromise with management long before that. So far, despite long days of negotiations stretching into the Memorial Day weekend, no progress has been made. 99.6% of nurses voted to authorize the strike. Last January, NYSNA nurses at the Manhattan location were able to secure a three-year contract that increased staffing, preserved healthcare and other benefits, and increased salaries, among other wins.
