New York, NY – On Friday, August 9th the New York City District Council of Carpenters hosted its 9th annual charity golf tournament and raised $350,000 for Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors. These funds will build and remodel universally accessible homes for injured or differently-abled U.S. veterans. NYC Carpenters have raised over $2.25 Million for this important cause over the past 9 years providing accessible homes for wounded veterans.

The event was held at Crystal Springs Resort in New Jersey and received a great turnout of supporters from across the construction trades as well as military veterans. Corporal Paul Skarinka, Private First-Class Phil Bauer, and Staff Sergeant Bradley Fasnacht were also in attendance, and all three have had homes built for them by union carpenters and JAH4WW.

The union’s partnership with JAH4WW is especially important as it has a large number of veterans in its membership and is committed to supporting returning service members both within its membership and throughout the country. The charity golf outing has become an important event for the New York City District Council of Carpenters over the past 9 years. Since 2015, the District Council has supported U.S. veterans JAH4WW by donating over $2.25 million.

“Countless union members have dedicated their lives to military service, and we take immense pride in giving back to those who serve,” stated Joseph Geiger, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the New York City District Council of Carpenters. “Veterans make incredible sacrifices for our country, and it’s our honor to use our expertise to provide them with a home upon their return. Our long-standing partnership with JAH4WW is a valued partnership that we are committed to upholding for many years to come.”

The NYC District Council is proud to help JAH4WW with what union carpenters do best: build sturdy, beautiful, lasting homes and facilities with their dedication to craftsmanship and safety standards

JAH4WW was formed in October of 2009 by Carolina Panthers defensive end Jared Allen after he returned home from his USO trip to U.S. Military Bases in the Middle East. Jared was moved by the commitment, dedication, and sacrifices that our soldiers make every day to protect our freedom. He wanted to say thank you to every soldier in the only way that Jared knows how. By making a positive life-changing difference in the lives of those who need it most, JAH4WW helps make life for wounded vets just a little bit easier.

“I am forever grateful to the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors for building me an accessible home that caters to my needs,” stated Corporal Paul Skarinka, United States Army Veteran. “Returning from service in Baghdad with PTSD and the amputation of my left leg below the knee and partial amputation of my left arm was a challenge, but this partnership has made my transition easier, providing me with hope in addition to a home. It is a privilege to be a member of a community who cares so deeply about its veterans, and I cannot thank union carpenters enough for their craftmanship and respect.”

“Thank you to the NYC District Council of Carpenters for their unwavering support of our mission at JAH4WW. Their generous donation will have a significant impact on our efforts to provide specially adapted homes for severely wounded veterans,” stated Jared Allen, Chairman of Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors. “This longstanding partnership reflects the deep compassion, dedication, and respect of union carpenters who help improve the lives of our wounded heroes and their families.”
