New York, NY— Walmart stores have been kept out of New York City, and now Walmart’s dollars must be, too. That blunt message was delivered June 4th by Council Members at City Hall during a press conference on June 4th. Council members and labor leaders are responding to the Walton Family Foundation's increased spending in the big apple, where they have been consistently refused entry.
Much of Walton Family Foundation's philanthropic activities have now been directed at charities in New York City. In a reaction to Walmart's attempt at buying legislators in New York. The Council led by Speaker Melissa Mark Viverito sent an open letter to Walmart to keep their money and stay out of New York City.
