The National Labor Relations Board has ruled that illegally fired workers should get more than just back pay. Rather than just getting back their lost wages, other costs associated with the firings are now to be reimbursed. That includes certain costs workers incurred to cover their and their family’s expenses while fighting for reinstatement. NLRB Chair Lauren McFerran wrote includes “costs such as out-of-pocket medical expenses, credit card debt, or other costs that are a direct or foreseeable result of unfair labor practices.”
