A new analysis by the Center for New York City Affairs at the New School shows the reality behind the typically divisive words of Donald Trump. He has claimed, during his campaign for the Presidency, that migrants who have come to New York City are taking jobs away from Black workers. “They’re taking employment from Black people,” he said at the National Association of Black Journalists’ convention, in a rare, and most likely false, show of concern towards people of color. It turns out that those workers born in the U.S. are doing better than ever, Black as well as Hispanic. Although there has been a rise in the non-citizen rate, the jobless rate among Black workers as well as Hispanic workers has fallen.
