In a State of the Unions address, the first of its kind, AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler and Secretary-Treasurer Fred Redmond spoke and released the findings of a new poll on union approval ratings in the U.S. The poll shows high support among Americans – 71%, cutting across political lines. Even more encouraging and significant is the opinion among young Americans, those under 30. 88% view unions favorably. That same demographic sees unions as crucial to growing the middle class.
