The National Association of Letter Carriers is declaring that enough is enough. New President Brian Renfroe spoke days before an April 30th rally in Baltimore about the serious issues facing workers and what the union, along with legislative supporters, are trying to do to address them. Letter Carriers have been subject to increasing rates of theft, injury, and even murder, as thieves continue to rob businesses and homeowners of checks, and use stolen keys to open mailboxes. The violence carried out against the carriers is shocking: according to an NALC summary of the legislation proposed, since 2020 there have been over 2,000 crimes committed against Letter Carriers on the job, and the Letter Carriers Protection Act is the first and foremost way to address this.
