New York, NY—When it was time for Council Member Dan Garodnick to cast his vote for the city’s next Council Speaker, everyone in the council chambers held their breath. Media reports the last couple of days indicated that council members allied with Garodnick might resort to parliamentary tactics to forestall the vote. But he ceded to Melissa Mark-Viverito, who is the city’s first Latina City Council Speaker. We interviewed former ATU Local 1056 President and freshman Council Member of District 27 Daneek Miller to get his reaction to the vote. Watch Video of Interview
