New York, NY – International Union of Operating Engineers General President James Callahan and Skanska Executive Vice President Michael Viggiano co-chaired the annual March of Dimes NYC Construction and Labor Breakfast on October 1, 2024 which raised $1.1 million.

March of Dimes NY recently expanded their partnership with NewYork-Presbyterian to launch the first-ever Mom and Baby Mobile Health Unit. Unique to the area, the mobile health unit leverages March of Dimes’ breadth of public health expertise, spanning more than 80 years, to provide community-based services for pre-natal and post-natal care based on greatest need. With the current public health landscape further magnifying inequities, the Mobile Heath Unit aims to eliminate the cultural, psychological, physical and financial barriers to care so that all babies have the best possible start.

This October 1st March of Dimes event was held at the New York Athletic Club in NYC. Besides honoring IUOE General President James Callihan and Skanska VP Michael Viggiano – The Breakfast also recognized Michael Zetlin, Founding Partner, Zetlin & De Chiara LLP and Michael Bertolone, Business Manager and International Trustee, International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 18.  The event was hosted by Shaun O’Hara with surprise guest appearance by Eli Manning. Over the past 47 years, the testimonial raised $18 million over the past four decades for March of Dimes. The Luncheon sustains vital funding for many local mission programs. In New York and New Jersey, there are four NICU Family Support Sites. This program funds a full-time, in-person, March of Dimes specialist to care for families through their difficult and often long journey in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and beyond. March of Dimes goals are three-fold: end premature births, end preventable maternal health risks and death, and end the health equity gap that moms and babies experience. Their ongoing work to improve maternal and infant health is more important than ever.
