As soon as Jan. 11, thousands of nurses could hit the picket line. 14,000 have already said they’ll walk; 3,000 are still voting. BronxCare, Montefiore, Mount Sinai, NewYork Presbyterian, and Richmond University Medical Center are on board, the results from four other hospitals have not yet come in. The New York State Nurses Association’s (NYSNA) president, Nancy Hagans, who is also a registered nurse, said, “The only way we’re going to retain nurses is by having proper patient-nurse ratios, having proper medical coverage, excellent medical coverage, and good wages.”
