Letter to the Editor – Independence Day, Special to All Americans
Dear Neal,
Independence Day is always one of my favorite days of the year. It is a beautiful thing when family, friends, loved ones and neighbors all gather together to celebrate our great nation.
I hope that every American takes pause today to think about our freedoms and those that sacrificed to secure them. Our troops, often spending months at a time away from family and loved ones, sacrifice their lives to protect us and ensure that our freedom continues.
Many of them are spending their Fourth in Iraq and Afghanistan and in other parts of the world.
Today, as we celebrate our democracy, be sure to thank a veteran for their service. We owe so much to them and to those who came here long before us.
