In a special election, Tom Suozzi was elected as House Representative for NY Congressional District 3. Labor support among many powerful unions had a lot to do with the win. NYC CLC President Vincent Alvarez said that union members know that Suozzi “has been a champion for working families,” and that he will fight for policies that support Labor, building “a strong middle class.” New York City union members made over 50,000 calls and knocked on almost 10,000 doors in Queens, NY, alone. 86 different NYC CLC local union affiliates participated.
