Health care workers employed by Kaiser Permanente are planning a strike in early October. This comes after the unions that represent tens of thousands of the workers and the massive healthcare provider failed to reach an agreement on Friday, Sept. 22. Although talks resumed over the weekend, and some progress was made, major issues such as raises are nowhere near to being resolved. And the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente unions has said the staffing crisis puts patient safety at risk. If the strike goes forward, it will be the largest single employer healthcare strike in history, with over 75,000 walking off the job.
