Picket lines full of employees of Kaiser Permanente have not produced changes in their employer’s refusal to meet their terms. In October, negotiations broke down, leaving over 1,700 mental health care employees dealing with living without a paycheck. Patients have, as a result, been impacted as well. Union members say they will not give in. They want a defined pension, as well as their pay to be upped to the level of other Kaiser Permanente staff in Northern California. They say they need more time as well for scheduling patients, the lack of which has caused work overload.
