Jay Jacobs on Passing of Peter Schmitt

I am shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Peter Schmitt. While we disagreed on most issues and our politics differed, I respected his leadership and his commitment to his principles and values. Peter was a strong advocate, and a formidable political opponent. He was also always a gentleman in his dealings with me, personally. He was a devoted family man and always loyal to his Party. It is to his family, friends and colleagues in Government that, on behalf of myself and the Democratic Party, I extend our heartfelt prayers and condolences.
