The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) are in the crossfire of the Trump administration. The seemingly unending salvos are hitting a barrage of government targets; some will help Trump billionaire crony Elon Musk, head of so-called DOGE, an un-elected and seemingly all-powerful “branch of government,” and Jeff Bezos, another billionaire who has a stake-in-the-game in shutting down union activities and eliminating workers’ rights. During his candidacy, Trump made repeated promises to red-state populations that he was pro-worker, only to have those promises prove empty. For just a couple of examples, Trump has already fired the acting chair of the NLRB, which means there is no quorum to enforce laws that protect workers’ right to unionize. Shockingly, Musk’s company SpaceX has brought suit in federal court to have the NLRB be declared unconstitutional.
