IKEA, like many other companies, projects a progressive image, along with affordable prices. But 320 members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), Local 1460, District 4, beg to differ. They have been on strike since mid-November. They are employed at the IKEA Distribution Center, in Perryville, MD, and their issues include fair wages and seniority protections. The company had offered a contract at the end of December, which the members rejected. “One day longer, one day stronger,” said IAM Eastern Territory General Vice President David Sullivan.
