Department of Transportation highway repair workers – nearly 400 of them – are suing the City over unpaid overtime they say they are owed. The lawsuit centers around New York City’s timekeeping system CityTime. According to the lawsuit, despite punching in and out as required, the workers are only paid for their scheduled hours, not any overtime they may accrue. Lawyers for the workers say this violates the Fair Labor Standards Act, which also states that employees in these cases are also entitled to twice the wages of which they were deprived.
