Six pregnant bus operators are suing New York City Transit, saying that they were not provided with reasonable accommodations. Theresa Rodriguez, one of the six, has been out of work for two and a half months without pay, and is struggling to make ends meet. Now eight and a half months into a high-risk pregnancy, she told MTA board members, “Please, find something to accommodate pregnant women.” The lawsuit states that NYCT “forces pregnant bus operators to choose between protecting a healthy pregnancy and earning a paycheck.”
