Gregory Floyd, President of Teamsters Local 237 and Vice President-at-Large, General Board of the IBT, marked Women’s History Month by recognizing some outstanding women in history and their achievements. In the labor movement, he cites those who died in the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire – although a grave tragedy, marked with unimaginable suffering, the event “played a significant part in building labor unions,” he writes. He also shouts out to the “sisterhood” at his Local, adding that singling out extraordinary women to honor close to home, “is not a difficult task.”
