NYC public hospital nurses have fought and struggled for years, recently striking and raising their voices to achieve safe staffing levels, increased wages, and other well-deserved changes in their often substandard working conditions. Now, a historic contract has delivered to them major wins. The NYC Health & Hospitals/mayoral agencies and the City of New York have put forth a 5.5 year contract that delivers a pay parity award of approximately 37% to all full-time nurses. Another major win is improved staffing ratios, a huge source of concern and discontent for the nurses.
