The Film Forum, located in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village, has a long history of providing quality domestic and foreign films for viewers whose tastes don’t run in the mainstream. Like independent bookstores, theaters like this are a vanishing breed, however, this one survives. And now employees at the storied venue will have a better quality of life, due to the ratification of a contract that includes wage increases, health coverage with no employee contributions, and four weeks of paid parental leave. The workers unionized with UAW Local 2110 in 2022. UAW also represents other cultural institutions including museums, universities, and publishers.
