Over 1,100 DHL Express Teamsters, represented by Teamsters Local 100, who load and unload airplanes at the company’s largest logistics hub in North America, went on strike on Dec. 7. The ramp and tug workers at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport are protesting unfair labor practices, and are demanding a fair contract. DHL is currently being prosecuted by the NLRB civilly for its illegal actions against pro-union workers, as well as other union-busting behavior. DHL Express is owned by a German company, Deutsche Post AG; DHL Express alone recorded a record $4.3 billion profit in 2022, while the parent company made over $100 billion. “Many of these workers live paycheck to paycheck,” said Bill Hamilton, Director of the Teamsters Express Division. He decried the “anti-worker company” and said workers are “simply trying to stand up for themselves at the bargaining table.”
