Washington, DC – Janitors employed by Nelson Services who work in Con Ed generating stations voted to join the Utility Workers Union of America.
“We look forward to working with this group to address their concerns,” said UWUA President James Slevin. “This important vote is the first step toward rectifying the disparities these Nelson Services workers are experiencing in comparison to their colleagues, including getting paid on time and receiving the paychecks they’re owed.”
The unit consists of 28 individuals who perform janitorial work in New York City in a utility setting. These future members reached out to UWUA regarding unfair treatment from their employer.
The Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA), represents 45,000 active members employed in America’s utility sectors.
