New York, NY – Company has been revived prior to its latest incarnation now playing at the Bernard Jacobs Theatre, but this show is an exceptional delight and quite pleasing for the entire family.
Featuring updated songs and lyrics by the great Stephen Sondheim, it stars Tony and Grammy-winner Katrina Lenk in the leading role of “Bobbie” and legendary Broadway icon Patti Lupone as “Joanne.” The show is directed by two-time Tony Award-winner Marianne Elliot.
It’s Bobbie’s 35th birthday and all her friends want to know way she is not married. Unlike the original production, the lead in this intriguing new revival of Company is a woman. Nevertheless, Bobbie is still trying to find relevance and questions posed by society. “Why aren’t you married” is just one of them.
The book by George Furth demonstrates the longevity of a script that is well written and stands the test of time. Classic songs including Ladies who Lunch, Being Alive and Side By Side By Side are still relevant today.
The show is satisfying for all .
The Bernard Jacobs Theatre is located at 242 W.45th Street, New York City.
