In Delano, Calif., on Cesar Chavez Day, groups – the United Farm Workers, the California Federation of Labor Unions, and SEIU California – assembled over 5,000 workers and members to march in solidarity against Trump’s mass deportation policies. Paul Chavez, son of Cesar Chavez, spoke, saying that standing together empowers all and that all must fight for what is right. Cesar Chavez fought for farm workers’ labor rights, introducing the first law enshrining the right to unionize for agricultural workers in the U.S. UFW President Teresa Romero said that all workers need to show their solidarity, organizing to protect themselves and each other.
