Queens, NY – The Tile, Marble and Terrazzo Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee Local Union #7 of NY and NJ will conduct a recruitment from March 25 through Oct. 11 for: five marble carver, cutter and setter apprentices; five terrazzo worker apprentices; three tile, marble and terrazzo finisher apprentices; and five tile setter apprentices.
The Joint Steamfitting Apprenticeship and Training Committee Local Union #638 will conduct a recruitment from April 8 through April 19 for 300 steamfitter apprentices.
The Joint Industry Board of the Electrical Industry, IBEW Local Union #3, will conduct a recruitment from April 15 through April 26 for 300 electrician apprentices.
Applications for tile, marble and terrazzo apprenticeships will be available at the International Masonry institute, 12-07 44th Avenue, Long Island City from 8 to 8:30 a.m., March 25-28 and from 8 to 8:30 a.m. October 7-10. Applications and exams are done on the day of application. Doors open at 8 a.m. There will be no admittance after 8:30 a.m. Processing will be until 10 a.m. Applications will not be accepted by mail.
Applications for steamfitters apprenticeships will be available at the Steamfitters Industry Training Center, 32-32 48th Avenue, Long Island City, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding legal holidays during the recruitment period. Applications will be accepted during the recruitment period or until 2,000 applications have been issued, whichever comes first. All applications must be received no later than 3 p.m. on May 7. Applicants must provide photo ID at time of obtaining and returning applications. Applicants must pay a $25 fee by certified check or money order payable to the Steamfitters’ Education Fund. You may request this fee be waived. Fee waivers will be approved upon a showing of verifiable proof of financial need.
Applications for electrician apprentices may be obtained by sending a request, by Registered Mail, addressed to: Joint Apprentice Committee, P.O. Box 560249, College Point, NY 11356-0249. Registered letters requesting an application must not be postmarked earlier than April 15, 2019. Letters sent by Certified Mail will not be accepted. All registered letters postmarked April 15, 2019 will be honored with an application even if the number of letters received exceeds the 2,000 letter limit.
There is a non-refundable application fee of $25 re Local 3 application. This fee may be waived upon showing verifiable proof of financial need. All applications must be postmarked no later than July 15, 2019.
