The Alphabet Workers Union, named after Alphabet Inc., the multinational giant and Google’s parent company, is making its voice heard after the corporation has expanded its policies on returning to work in-office. In April, employees were asked to come in three days a week; now, those who don’t abide by this rule will have their performance reviews affected. Many workers say offices are not even set up now to accommodate what workers would need to follow this dictate, from lack of office furniture to enough space to work effectively. Chris Schmidt, a Google software engineer and recording chair of the Union, said, “We do not have meaningful agency regarding our working conditions.”
