A group of workers who do the unheralded work of cleaning airplanes, removing trash, and helping those in wheelchairs, have had enough of their low pay, that for some of them means sleeping in their cars, and telling their children they may not have a place to live. They have gone on strike, as announced by SEIU, now, during the height of the Thanksgiving season. The strike was expected to last just 24 hours. Charlotte Douglas International Airport, in N.C., where the workers are located, is a hub for American Airlines, one of the world’s busiest carriers. Timothy Lowe 11, who works as a wheelchair attendant, said, “We just want to be able to have everything that’s a necessity paid by the job that hired us to do a great job so they can make billions.”
